A funeral service celebrating the life of Alice Alberts, age 91 of Glencoe, took place Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie.
Alice died Friday, March 13, 2004, at the Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care Unit, having reached the age of 91 years, eight months, and 16 days.
Alice Marie was born June 27, 1912, in Maynard, the daughter of Louis and Margaret (Schroder) Beckmann. She was baptized, and later confirmed into the faith at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City.
Alice grew up in Maynard and attended country school.
She was united in marriage to Friedrick Alberts at Bethany Reformed Church. The couple moved throughout the years, spending time in Maynard, Morris, Clara City, Spokane, Wash.; Sacred Heart, Cosmos, Lester Prairie, and eventually, Glencoe.
Alice was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie. She enjoyed baking and entertaining friends and family with tea and cookies.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Henry Alberts; a brother, Louis Beckmann; and a sister, Dorothy Gurdes.
She is survived by her children: Louie Alberts (special friend, Karen) of Lake Lillian; Paul Alberts (wife, Sue) of Lester Prairie, Harold Alberts (wife, Romella) of Mesa, Ariz.; Margaret MacArthur (husband, Douglas) of Upsala, Fred Alberts Jr., (wife, Virginia) of Hutchinson, Gordon Alberts (wife, Linda) of Custer, S.D.; Alice Wirtz (husband, Roger) of Maple Grove, and Marvin Alberts (wife, Pat) of Divide, Colo.; 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
The Rev. Gerald Schwanke officiated at the 11 a.m. funeral service. Organist was Kay Gueningsman. Congregational hymns were “Nearer My God To Thee” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Alice’s grandchildren sang “Jesus Loves Me.”
Serving as casket bearers were Mark Alberts, Kevin Alberts, Michael Alberts, Kristine Salva, Laura Beilke, and Melissa Alberts. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Lester Prairie.
