Glen Alden Anderson
Glen Alden Anderson entered his eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004 at the Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care Unit at the age of 78 years and five months.
Glen was born the son of Alvin and Olive (Benjamin) Anderson Aug. 15, 1925 at the house on the family farm in Bergen Township.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist church in Lester Prairie. Glen attended country school in rural Lester Prairie. He was united in marriage to Lois Mielke Aug. 15, 1950 at the First Congregational Church in Comfrey, Minn.
Glen was a member of the Minnesota Guernsey Breeder's Association. As a lifelong farmer, Glen especially enjoyed cows and spending time on the farm.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Olive Anderson, mother and father-in-law Otto and Mary Mielke, daughter Diane Anderson, brother Warren Anderson, and brothers-in-laws Harold Lemke and Robert McCuskey, and sister-in-law Phyllis Mielke.
Glen is survived by his wife Lois Anderson of Lester Prairie; children Steven Anderson, Dale (Diane) Anderson, and David (Donna) Anderson, all of Lester Prairie.
He is further survived by his grandchildren: Kristin Anderson, Dustin Anderson, Kevin Anderson, and Karen Anderson; sisters Donna Lemke of Glencoe, and Marlys McCluskey of Rushford, Minn.; brothers and sisters-in-law Louise Anderson of Lester Prairie, LeRoy (Norma) Mielke of Florida, Ivan Mielke of Excelsior, and Richard (Sandie) Mielke of Sioux Falls, S.D.; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Glen A. Anderson, age 78, of Lester Prairie were Monday, Jan. 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lester Prairie.
Officiating was the Rev. Bill Baldwin. The organist was Sonja Johnson, and the congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden." The soloist was Marvin Westermann, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross."
Special music was "Beyond the Sunset," which was played by Earl Erhke on his harmonica and accompanied by Rev. Bill Baldwin on the guitar.
Visitation was Sunday evening, Jan. 18, 2004 at the Evangelical Church of Christ.
Serving as casketbearers were Mark Anderson, Sam Anderson, Russell Erinkall, Lee Lemke, Dean McCluskey, and Scott McCluskey. Honorary casketbearers were Glen's four grandchildren: Kristin, Dustin, Kevin, and Karen.
Interment was in the Lester Prairie City Cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
