Vernetta L. Bahr
Vernetta L. Bahr, age 83 of Mayer, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Good Samaritan Center, Waconia.
She was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Lester Prairie, the daughter of Arthur C. and Lena W. (Oelke) Litschke. She was baptized at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Bergen Township, McLeod County Aug. 22, 1920 by the Rev. W. Baumhoefner; and confirmed at the same church March 25, 1934, by the Rev. J. A. Schert.
Vernetta married Henry G. Bahr Oct. 25, 1939, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, by the Rev. J. A. Schert.
Vernetta was a very avid Bible reader, and attended Bible study at church. She loved family gatherings, doing needlework, and playing cards and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lena Litschke, brother Orville Litschke, father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Augusta Bahr; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Eugene Paul, Leona and Leonard Zebell, Adeline and Harold Birkholz, and Edwin and William Bahr.
Vernetta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Yvonne Bahr of Mayer; granddaughters Kelley Bahr of Waconia, and Patricia and Joel Sievers of Cologne; great-granddaughters Devyn and Lauryn Sievers; sister Alice Paul of Silver Lake, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Albert and Idella Bahr of Waconia, Minnie Bahr of San Diego, Calif.; and Barbara Zebell of Waconia, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 27, 11 a.m, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, with the Revs. Peter A. Meier and Jeff Harter officiating. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Mayer.
Serving as casketbearers were Gary Zebell, DuWayne Paul, Kurt Luhman, Joel Sievers, Brad Schultz, and Garlen Mikolichek. Honorary casketbearer was Steve Hahn.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
