Grace C. Bettcher
Grace C. Bettcher, age 69, of New Germany, died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 6, 2004 at her residence.
She was born Jan. 16, 1934 in Hollywood Township, Carver County, the daughter of Albert and Martha Pawelk Farber.
Grace was baptized Feb. 11, 1934 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith by the Rev. John Meyer May 18, 1947 at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Her confirmation memory verse was Psalm 37: 5 "Commit thy way unto the Lord; Trust also in Him; and he shall bring it to pass."
Grace Farber and Juergen Bettcher were joined in holy marriage Oct. 1, 1954 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany. God blessed their marriage with a son, Douglas.
She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church of Hollywood Township.
Grace is survived by her loving husband Juergen Bettcher; son Douglas (Debbie) Bettcher of Mayer; and grandchildren Chad Bettcher and Mindy Bettcher;
She is further survived by sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law Lorraine Farber of Watertown, Violet Tonn of Lester Prairie, Derrola Fasching of Winsted, Della (Norman) Stender of Lester Prairie, Florence Klaustermeier of Lester Prairie, Carol Adams of Victoria, Bette (Gene) Miller of Cologne, and Ewald (Dorothy) Bettcher Jr. of Lester Prairie; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Martha Farber, brother Vernon Farber, sisters-in-law Evangeline Fasching and Eunice Wainwright, and by brothers-in-law Theodore Tonn, William Fasching Victor Klaustermeier, Vernon Adams and Linus Fasching.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township. Vicar Bob Rupprecht officiated, and interment followed at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Becky Aurich was the organist for the funeral service, and John Farber sang "How Great Thou Art." Congregational hymns were "Lift High the Cross," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives."
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted Thursday, Jan. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. A prayer service was at 7 p.m.
Casketbearers were John Farber, Gary Farber, Steven Farber, Mark Farber, Lee Farber, David Farber, and Terry Schmidt.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
