Donald F. Borrell
Donald F. Borrell, age 78 of Waverly, died peacefully, at home, Monday, Nov. 15, 2004.
He was born Oct. 16, 1926 to Joseph and Emily (Coyea) Borrell in Waverly.
Don served in the Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Saratoga.
He graduated from the College of St. Thomas in 1951, and went on to work for the TCF banks. He was employed at TCF for over 20 years, opening two branch offices.
Don was active in Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.
His passions were flying his airplane, riding his motorcycle, and hunting.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marcella; children: Gary and Jan Borrell, Greg and Kim Borrell, and Laurie and John Hamerly; brothers: Clayton and Gerri Borrell, Gerald and Therese Borrell, Marian and Sherry Borrell, and Dan and Mary Jane Borrell; grandchildren: Alyse, Philip, Katie, Amy, Robin, Ross, and Maggie; and stepgrandchildren Nick and Katie.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Waverly with the Rev. Timothy Cloutier officiating. Music was provided by St. Mary’s church choir and Therese Borrell, organist.
Visitation was Thursday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the Mass.
Honors were provided by the Charlie Claessen American Legion Post 305 and Waverly Council 1556 of the Knights of Columbus. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waverly.
Arrangements were by Iten Funeral Home, Delano.
