Arnold Edward Dammann
Arnold Edward Dammann, age 92, of Lester Prairie, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Arnold took place Wednesday, Oct. 20 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Officiating was Rev. Gerald Schwanke, organist was Kay Gueningsmann, and the soloist was ReNaye Odegaard who sand “On Eagle’s Wings” and “I Can Only Imagine”. The congregational hymns were “Lift High The Cross”, “How Great Thou Art” and “What God Ordains Is Always Good”.
Serving as casket bearers were Denise Pilarski, Jon Dammann, Andrea Branch, Heather Potter, Ryan Johnson, and Brent Johnson. Interment was in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Lester Prairie.
Arnold was born the son of William and Martha (Droege) Dammann, April 28, 1912, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minn. He was baptized May 19, 1912 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by Rev. Buescher and was later confirmed into the faith March 28, 1926, also at St. Peter Lutheran Church, by Rev. J.A. Schert.
Arnold attended district #84 and then went to St. Peter’s Parochial School in Lester Prairie. He was united in marriage with Clara Boesche September, 8, 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato by Rev. H.J. Bouman. The couple made their home on Arnold’s home farm place where they have lived ever since.
Arnold served a number of years on the church council, acting as treasurer. He was a member of the church school board and served on the church building committee.
Arnold farmed his entire life and enjoyed being outside on the farm. He enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends, traveling, fishing, and playing cards. He liked being an all around handyman for his children and grandchildren.
He was a devoted spouse, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Arnold is preceded in death by his parents William and Martha; an infant son; a great granddaughter, Jasmine; and five brothers and three sisters.
Arnold is survived by his wife Clara, Lester Prairie, children: Edward (Carol) Dammann of Glencoe, Joel (Lora) Dammann of Plymouth, and Mary Lois (Steven) Johnson of Forest Lake; grandchildren: Denise (James) Pilarski, John (Debra) Dammann, Andrea (David) Branch, Heather (Aron) Potter, Ryan (Denise) Johnson, and Brent (special friend Beatrix) Johnson; step-grandchildren: Douglas (Noelle) Flescher, and Kevin (Tina) Flescher; great grandchildren: Nicole Pilarski, Mitchel Dammann, Katelyn Dammann, Joellen Dammann, Keyera Branch, Alexis Branch, Alayna Potter, and Forrest Johnson; step-great grandchildren: Jackson and maverick Flescher; sisters-in-law: Vera Ernst of Glencoe, Sarah Terlinden of Glencoe, Martha Berquist of St. Louis Park, and Laura Boesche of Chanhassen; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
