John Fredrick Dietel
John Fredrick Dietel, age 48 of Silver Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at Hutchinson Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 11, 1956 in Glencoe, the son of Elmer and Cecelia (Thomas) Dietel. He was baptized at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lester Prairie, and later confirmed into the faith at Friedens County Line Church UCC in Young America.
John attended school in Plato and also at Glencoe.
He loved to drive semi-truck, which he did for a living.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Cecelia; and an infant sister.
He is survived by his father, Elmer Dietel of Lester Prairie; siblings: Lucy Kielty (husband Charles) of Waite Park, Roger Dietel (wife Sandy) of Arlington, Marian Musselmann (husband Paul) of Hanover Park, Ill.; Gary Dietel (wife Carol) of Glencoe, Gwendolyn Ische (husband Ivan) of Arlington, Barb Kern (husband Clifford) of Lester Prairie, Thomas Dietel of Gaylord, and Nicholas Dietel (wife Donna) of Winsted; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Prairie Community Church in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Bill Baldwin officiating. The organist was Marie Eischens, and the congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “Just As I Am,” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.”
Serving as casket bearers were John’s eight nephews, and the honorary casket bearers were his eight nieces. Interment was in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation took place Sunday evening, Nov. 28 at the church.
Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
