Patricia Ann Gilmer
Patricia Ann Gilmer, age 78 of Waverly, died Friday, March 19, 2004 at the Buffalo Hospital.
Patricia was born May 4, 1925 to William and Bertha (Fabian) Jung in Wadena, Minn. She attended St. Anne’s Grade School, Wadena High School, St. Mary’s College at Valparaiso, Ind., and the University of Minnesota.
Patricia was joined in holy matrimony to Russell D. Gilmer Sept. 10, 1949. God blessed this union with six children: Michael Gilmer, Patricia Reinert, James Gilmer, Mary Jacques, Nancy Daley, and Julie Holtz.
Pat devoted her life to her God, husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, singing in the choir for over 35 years.
She was known for being organized. Her calender was a thing which contained everybody’s important dates. The knowledge of those dates was not the end product, for she would send the appropriate card every year. Hallmark will notice her absence.
Patricia is preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Holtz.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Russell; her daughters: Patricia and Michael Reinert, Mary and Tom Jacques, and Nancy and Kevin Daley, and sons: Michael and Sheila Gilmer, and James and Jayne Gilmer.
Patricia is further survived by her son-in-Iaw, Doug Holtz; 17 grandchildren: Rachel, Joel, Gina, Jeff, Cece, Dominic, Nicole, Megan, Blake, Katie, Thorn, Amy, Andy, JoJo, Justin, Danielle, and Mitchell; one great-grandson, Sage; a brother, Dr. Franklin and Carol Jung, and a brother-in-law, Dr. James Hammarsten.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, March 26, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. The Rev. Timothy Cloutier officiated at the funeral service, with music provided by organist Therese Borrell, pianist Patricia Munson, Kevin Daley on guitar, and the St. Mary’s Church Choir.
Gathering was Thursday, March 25, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, and continued Friday for one hour prior to services at the church. A prayer service was at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.
Honorary bearers were Patricia’s grandchildren. Interment was in the church cemetery.
