Rosa L. Grout
Memorial services for Rosa (Moehring) Grout, 95, of Sault St. Marie, Mich., and formerly of Glencoe, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 25, from the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Officiating will be the Rev. Ron Mathison.
Mrs. Grout died on March 16, 2004, at the Chippewa County War Memorial Hospital’s long-term care facility.
The organist will be Dawn Wolter, and the congregational songs will be “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery.
Rosa L. Moehring was born to John and Minnie (Dose) Moehring on March 20, 1908, in Plato. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato. She received her bachelor of education degree from Winona State University and her master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. Her additional graduate work was completed at the University of Minnesota, Purdue University, Central Michigan University and Northern Michigan University.
She taught in various schools in Minnesota for 15 years and in the Sault St. Marie area public schools for 27 years.
Mrs. Grout was a member of the Sault Naturalists, People-to-People International, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Kinross and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
Survivors include her sisters, Minna (Ken) Freiberg of Marine On The St. Croix, Minn., Lorna Meyer of New Prague, Lillian Tucholke of Lester Prairie, Stella Hill of Champlin; brothers, Ruben Moehring of Plato, John (Jane) Moehring of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law, Arthur Wisch of Arlington; special friends Mr. and Mrs. David Freeborn; as well as other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, Peter Bukovac and Edward Grout; sisters Mabel Bishop and Frances Wisch; brothers-in-law, Harry Bishop, Armond Meyer, Orwin Tucholke; and sister-in-law, Helen Moehring.
Arrangements were with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe.
