Kenneth David Haekenkamp

Kenneth David Haekenkamp, age 74 of Winsted, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 at his residence.

He was born May 21, 1930 in Winsted Township, McLeod County, the son of John and Pauline Mallak Haekenkamp.

Ken graduated from Lester Prairie High School in 1949.

Kenneth and Delores H. Boser were joined in holy marriage Sept. 22, 1953, at St. John Nepomuk in Lastrup. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Ken was a self employed, excellent woodcraftsman for KDH Wood Products.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and also belonged to The Catholic Order of Foresters Holy Trinity Court #1054.

In his retirement years, Ken was an avid collector of period pieces, glassware and antique/collector cars. He enjoyed swap meets.

Ken built two homes and was always proud that all of his children were able to attend private schools.

He always worked side by side with his wife, Delores.

Ken loved people, little domestic animals, wildlife, and Mother Nature’s blessings.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delores H. Haekenkamp; four children: Jeanette Ann Fisher-Scruton of Edina, Sandra Marie (Richard) Dammar of Brooklyn Park, Kenneth Dale (Deborah) Haekenkamp of St Cloud, and Robert Wayne Haekenkamp of Hopkins; six grandchildren: Bridget Fisher, Tammy Pozayt and David Dammar; Andrea Barber, Joshua Haekenkamp, and Cara Haekenkamp; a great-grandchild; his mother-in-law, Agnes Boser of Pierz; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline Haekenkamp; a brother, Raymond Haekenkamp, during The Battle of Bulge in World War II; and by his father-in-law, Robert

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Paul L Wolf was the celebrant. Carrie Knott was the organist. Private entombment took place in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Friends called Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary was recited at 7:10 p.m., and a parish prayer service took place at 7:30 p.m.

Honorary casketbearer was Greg Scruton.

Casketbearers were Doug Boser, Eric Valen, Tim Costello, Joe Mallak, Hubert Haekenkamp, and Derek Barber.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
