Arthur Frederick Hass, 82

Arthur Frederick Hass of Howard Lake, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Waconia Hospital after attaining the age of 74 years, three months, and four days.

Arthur was born Dec. 1, 1929, at New London, Wis., the son of Otto and Roberta Hass. He grew up in Bowler, Wis., and served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953.

He was united in marriage to Lillie Ann Hoffman July 3, 1955, at Elais Lutheran Church, Town of Herman-Shawano, Wis. Their marriage was blessed with four children.

Over the years, Arthur worked in the manufacture of furnaces, air conditioners, and fire engines; and in the lumber industry at the following plants: Mueller Climatrol, Milwaukee, Wis.; FWD, Clintonville, Wis.; and Hotz Manufacturing Co., Shawano, Wis.

In 1997, Arthur and Lillie made their home in Howard Lake. For the past couple of years, Arthur was a resident of the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Care Center.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Lillie Hass of Howard Lake, four children: son Dennis and wife Gloria of Tigerton, Wis., son Duane and wife Trina of Montrose, daughter Denise Oberpriller and husband Tim of Howard Lake, and son Todd of Kerrville, Texas.

He is further survived by three sisters: Beverly Oleson and husband Gary of Eland, Wis., Dawn Welch and husband Ralph of Bowler, Wis., and Lucy Bowersock and husband Fred of Gresham, Wis.; a brother Corliss Hass and wife Ann of Hutto, Texas; a sister-in-law, Velda Jung and husband Edgar of Gresham, Wis.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Roberta Hass.

A memorial service took place Monday, March 8, at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Care Center with the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Interment will be at a later date with a family service at the cemetery in Red Springs Township, Wis.

Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
