Hillard Carl Ide
Hillard Carl Ide, age 75, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Hillard was born March 28, 1929, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, the son of Ewald and Alma (Dose) Ide. He was baptized as an infant April 21, 1929, by the Rev. J. A. Schert, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth by the Rev. A. F. Vomhof, both at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
He attended St. Peter Lutheran School in Lester Prairie.
Hillard was united in marriage to Dorothy Schauer Sept. 5, 1959, by the Rev. F. Fellowock at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with four children.
Hillard and Dorothy resided and farmed in rural Lester Prairie, before moving to Hutchinson in 1969.
After farming for 10 years in Lester Prairie, Hillard held employment at Rockite Silo Company, and worked for 21 years at the Farm Service Elevator in Hutchinson. He retired in 1992.
Hillard and Dorothy shared 45 years of marriage.
Hillard was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing with his father-in-law and brothers-in-law, going for long drives, and taking trips with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Hillard became a resident of Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe Oct. 25.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ide of Hutchinson; children Gloria Mack and her husband, Ernest, of Park Rapids, Donald Ide and his wife, Michelle, of Glencoe, and Carol Ide and her fiancé, David Louisiana of St. Paul; and grandchildren: Christine Mack, Jordan Mack, Colin Mack, Allison Sherwood, Alex Ide, and Nicole Manteuffel.
Hillard is further survived by a brother, Vernon Ide, and his wife, Edna, of Glencoe; brother-in-law Victor Schauer and his wife, Margaret, of Bloomington; sisters-in-law, Eileen Harbarth of Gaylord, Linda Schauer of Bloomington, and, Audrey Ide of Lester Prairie; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Alma Ide; son Merlin Ide; sister Verdella Bullert and her husband, Harold; brother Dennis Ide; and brothers-in-law Earl Schauer, Hillard Schauer and Marvin Schauer.
The Rev. Brian Ewings officiated at the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. The organist was Gerald Bunkowske, and the congregational hymns were “The Lord My Shepherd Is” and “I’m But A Stranger Here.” Rev. Ewings also sang a solo, “Abide With Me.”Interment was in Oakland Cemetery, Hutchinson.
Casket bearers were Gerald Ide, Ryan Ide, Elizabeth Tuchtenhagen, James Schauer, Jeffery Schauer, and Calvin Wilson.
Arrangements were handled by Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
