Josephine Kathryn Jenkins
Josephine Kathryn Jenkins, age 89, of Waverly died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 at the Buffalo Hospital.
She was born Dec. 25, 1914, in Tyler, the daughter of Anthony and Inez Mae (Wenzin) Dressen.
Josephine K. Dressen and Emery Jenkins were joined in holy marriage Nov. 11, 1936, in Tyler. God blessed their marriage with five children.
Josephine was a former school teacher in Marysville Township. She later was employed by Wonderalls in Buffalo, for 20 years.
She was known for her homemade bread, sewing, crocheting, raising chickens and strawberries.
A faithful member of The Church of St. Mary in Waverly, Josephine helped many years with its fall festival. She was a former member of The Daughters of Isabella.
She also belonged to the Q. Q. Club, and Marysville Merry Makers 4-H Club.
Josephine is survived by her children: William (Karen) Jenkins of Minnetonka, Elizabeth (Pete) Kielty of Shingle Springs, Calif., James Jenkins, and Jerome (Rosemary) Jenkins, all of Waverly, and Joanne (Mike) Jenkins-Biggs of Cameron Park, Calif.
She is further survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Emmet Dressen of Belle Plaine, Inez Trimbo of Vancouver, Wash., Norinne Jenkins of Buffalo, Kathleen Christopherson of Stockton, Calif., Eugene Dressen of Redwood Falls, Anthony Dressen of Shakopee, and Alvin Dressen of Buffalo; and many other relatives and friends.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Emery Jenkins March 22, 1993; her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Jenkins took place Thursday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m., at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly. The Rev. Timothy Cloutier was the celebrant. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends called on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 5 to 8 p.m., at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A prayer service took place at 7 p.m.
Casketbearers were Kendra Kallevig, Jodie Robinson, Beth Jenkins, and Steve, Neil, Robert, and Kevin Jenkins.
