Stella Judd, 2/19/2004


Stella Mathilda Judd, age 91 of Howard Lake, died Thursday,
Feb. 19, 2004, at Good Samaritan Home in Howard Lake.
Stella was born Oct. 22, 1912, in New London to Peter and
Matheia (Syverhus) Brenden. At age five, Stella’s mother died in childbirth,
and Stella, her sister Ruth, and brother Ed were sent to live with different
families.
Stella was raised in a Norwegian Lutheran Church in New
London, and confirmed there. At a young age, Stella desired a personal relationship
with God and personally trusted Christ as her Savior. Throughout her life,
she was involved with Bible studies, Sunday school, and women’s church groups.

Stella was married to Gordon Judd on Dec. 17, 1934. They
had 54 wonderful years of marriage, and were blessed with three children.

In addition to being a mother to her children, Stella also
worked alongside Gordon in their various businesses in Howard Lake.
She enjoyed watching birds, baking, embroidery, knitting,
and crocheting.
Stella is survived by her children, Grant Judd, Judy (Karl)
von Loewe of Somerset, N.J., and Maureen (Hank) Hornstein of Sao Paulo,
Brazil; three grandsons, and five great-grandchildren.,
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
brother Edwin, sister Ruth Williams, and daughter-in-law Inga Judd.
Funeral service will be today, Feb. 23, 2 p.m., at First
Presbyterian Church, Howard Lake, with visitation one hour prior to the
service at the church. The Rev. Mark Winther will officiate at the funeral
service, and music will be provided by Patricia Munson.
Casket bearers will be Harlan Adickes, Albert Lorentz,
Paul Brenden, Ray Munson, David Hoover, and Everett Smith. Interment will
be in Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Arrangements by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Inc., Cokato
and Howard Lake.
