Eileen Delores Knott

Eileen Delores Knott, age 81, of Winsted, died Wednesday morning, May 5, 2004 at St. Mary’s Care Center.

She was born Feb. 25, 1923 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Lindon and Helena “Lena” Roufs Scheid.

Eileen graduated from Holy Trinity High School.

She and George C. Knott were joined in holy marriage July 22, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with three children: Kathleen, James, and Mary.

Eileen was formerly employed in aircraft manufacturing during WW II and later, at Sterner Lighting for more than 20 years.

She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Eileen is survived by her loving husband, George C. Knott; children: Kathleen (Jamie) Gutzmann of Winsted, James G. (Sandra) Knott of Litchfield, and Mary (Kevin) Quast of Winsted; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Cecile (Vincent) Laxen of Winsted; a brother, Stanley Scheid of Stillwater; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lindon and Helena “Lena” Scheid; a brother, Roger Scheid; a sister, Florence “Flossy” Westrup; and a great-grandson, Mitchell.

A Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, May 8 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant, and Carrie Knott was the organist for the Mass. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Friends called Friday, May 7, from 4 to 8 p.m., at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A prayer service took place at 7:30 p.m.

Honorary casketbearers were Elizabeth Knott, Christina Knott and Sherri Mallak.

Casketbearers were Nathan Michaels, Eric Michaels, Mike Laxen, Tim Laxen, Pat Laxen, and Tim Kosek.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
