Corda Louise Lunow
Funeral services for Corda Louise Lunow, 97, of rural Watertown were held on Monday, March 29, from the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America (NYA). Officiating was the Rev. David Winter and the Rev. Scott Gustafson.
Mrs. Lunow died on Friday, March 26, 2004, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
The organist was Arthur Fuchs. Soloist Lawrence Biermann sang “Muede bin ich geh zur ruh” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” The congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “Jesus Lives, the Victory’s Won.”
Pallbearers were Allan Feltmann, Daryl Feltmann, Gary Feltmann, Steven Feltmann, Randy Feltmann, and Curtis Feltmann. Interment was in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Corda Louise Feltmann was born to Arnold and Louise (Mueller) Feltmann on Feb. 6, 1907, in Young America Township of Carver County. She was baptized at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America. The Rev. Abraham confirmed her in the faith on March 20, 1931 at St. John’s.
On Nov. 18, 1931, she was united in marriage with Edwin E. Lunow at St. John’s by the Rev. Abraham. The couple lived with his parents near Silver Lake for 13 years until purchasing a farm by Watertown in 1949.
Mrs. Lunow worked for 13 years at Tonka Toys. She left Tonka Toys to help with the family farm.
Mrs. Lunow was a lifelong member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her family and life around the farm. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children Lucille (Jerry) Newman of Buffalo, Larry (Barb) Lunow of Watertown; grandchildren, Terry (Laura) Newman, Michael Newman, Mark (Kathy) Newman, Lisa (Travis) Kubasch, Scott (Stacie) Lunow, Ryan (Angie) Lunow and Krista Lunow and special friend, Ryan Goede; great-grandchildren, Isaac Newman, Nathan Newman, Eric Newman, Ray Newman, Brady Lunow, Logan Lunow, Ariana Lunow, Sawyer Kubasch; sisters, Edna Berry of Glencoe and Elizabeth (Lloyd) Berry of Glencoe; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; granddaughter-in-law, Patty Newman; brothers, Ervin, Alfred, Elford and Melvin Feltmann; and sisters, Lillian and Alice.
The Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of NYA handled arrangements.
