Ilo Mae Maland obituary, 1/7/04


Ilo Mae Maland, 78, of Lake City, died Jan. 7, 2004 at
home with her family.
She was born Dec. 31, 1925 in Glencoe to Joseph and Ella
(Lange) Klobe. She graduated from Glencoe High School and attended Macalester
College and the University of Minnesota. She graduated from the U of M in
1948 with a B.S. degree in public health nursing.
She married Richard Maland at First Lutheran Church in
Glencoe May 14, 1949. From 1949 to 1952, Dick and Ilo lived in St. Paul,
where she served as a public health nurse. They moved to Lake City in 1952,
where she became a housewife, mother and parttime R.N. at the Lake City
Hospital.
She was a loyal and loving member of First Lutheran Church,
Lake City. She loved gardening, bird watching, golfing, swimming and, most
of all, her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband Richard; daughter Jane (Gary)
Schroeher of White Bear Lake; sons David (Jeanelle) Maland of Tyler, Texas;
and James (Amy) Maland of St. Paul.
She is also survived by grandchildren Joseph, Daniel, Katie,
and Maren Maland; Lisa, Mark, and John Schroeher; step-grandchildren Megan
and Caleb Turner; brother Dr. John (Dorothy) Klobe of Lester Prairie; and
sister Joanne (Dr. Charles) Gamble, Sacramento, Calif.
Ilo was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Winters.
