Nathan Mensing

Funeral services celebrating the life of Nathan Mensing, age 23 of Lester Prairie, were Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Nathan died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004.

He was born March 17, 1981 in Glencoe, the son of Dale and Linda (Kramer) Mensing. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie.

Nathan graduated from Lester Prairie High School in 1999. He attended the University of Wisconsin, River Falls from 1999-2001, where he was a member of the THETA CHI fraternity. During college, Nathan participated in Habitat for Humanity projects.

He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he served as an acolyte, usher, and past youth group member.

Nathan enjoyed everything that dealt with being outdoors, hunting with his dog, a chocolate lab named Maggy; fishing, riding ATVs, and snowmobiles, animals, and camping.

He was previously employed by Fred Holasek & Son Greenhouses and loved landscaping around his home.

Currently, Nathan was employed by Ekloff Docks in Waconia.

He will be remembered as a caring person who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandparents.

Nathan was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Henry Mensing and Hilton Kramer; as well as a cousin, Ryan Mensing.

He is survived by his parents, Dale and Linda Mensing of Lester Prairie; a sister, Sara Crew (husband Donovan) of Minneapolis; fiancée Rachel Drees of Waconia, grandmothers Ruth Kramer of Waconia and Violet Mensing of Blue Earth; great-grandmother Alta Renkly of Winnebago; aunts and uncles Jane and Dale Hermann of Oakdale, Sheryl and Bill Pfeffer of Amboy, Kent Mensing of Blue Earth, Lisa and Ed Kivel of Stillwater, and Neal and Brenda Mensing of Blue Earth; as well as many other relatives and friends.

The Rev. Eric Nelson officiated at the funeral service. Organist was Jane Holasek and the congregational hymns were “Come Unto Me Ye Weary,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” and “Abide With Me.” Soloist Chuck Thiel sang “In The Garden.”

Visitation was Monday evening, Aug. 16, at the church.

Casketbearers were Steven Pfeffer, Patrick Pfeffer, Saji Mensing Soltani, Jeremy Thiel, Jason Thiel, John Kern, and Steve Wozniczka. Interment was in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Lester Prairie.

Arrangements were by the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
