Stella Emma Ostlie
Stella Emma Ostlie entered her eternal rest at Glencoe Regional Health Services Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 at the age of 77 years, five months, and 14 days.
Stella was born the daughter of George and Lena (Seefeldt) Richter Aug. 25, 1926 in Hollywood Township.
She was baptized at her home Aug. 29, 1926 by the Rev. W.L. Ernst of St. John's Lutheran Church of Hollywood Township. Stella was later confirmed into the faith by the Rev. W.L. Ernst March 17, 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township.
She was born and raised on the family farm in Hollywood Township, attending District 22 country school, St. John's Parochial School, and also Watertown High School.
Stella was united in marriage to Donald Ostlie Oct. 24, 1947 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe but the Rev. Strueffert.
The couple made their home in Glencoe for a year, then moved to Hector and lived there for several years. Stella and Donald moved back to Glencoe, where she has lived in her current home since.
Stella worked at Glencoe Regional Health Services for 34 years in several different positions, but mostly in the activities department.
She was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She loved to be in her garden growing many different flowers. Stella cherished the time that she spent with her son on the farm.
Stella is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, and brother Oscar Richter.
She is survived by her son Steven Ostlie of New Germany, sister Ella (Curtis) Menth of Watertown, sisters-in-law Mae Lundquist of Salinas, Calif., Dona Schrader of Wayzata, Violet Ostlie of Garden City, Mich., and Phoeve Ostlie of Lompoc, Calif., as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was Thursday evening, Feb. 12, 2004, at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Stella E. Ostlie were Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Officiating was the Rev. Brad Thom. The organist was Wendy Dahlke, and the congregational hymns were "Abide With Me," "For All the Saints, Who From Their Labors Rest," "My Faith Looks Up To Thee," and "I'm But a Stranger Here."
Serving as casketbearers were Richard Cohrs, Jim Klaustermeier, Roger Rolf, Tim Seefeldt, Paul Seefeldt, and Allen Stender.
Honorary casketbearers were Kent Gerderman, Mike and kay Menth, Rhonda and Stephen Schelitzche, and Dale and Shelly Ketcher.
Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery in Lester Prairie.
Arrangements were made with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
