Evelyn A. Rolf

Funeral services celebrating the life of Evelyn A. Rolf, age 84, of Lester Prairie, were Monday, Dec. 13, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Evelyn died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at the Glencoe Regional Health Services long term care in Glencoe.

Evelyn Anna Rolf was born the daughter of Arthur Sr. and Martha (Schneewind) Wenholz April 24, 1920 in Green Isle. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Gilbert Rolf Feb. 8, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. R. A. Ritz.

A lifelong Lutheran, Evelyn was a member of the Dorcas circle. She attended Bible study regularly and enjoyed reading and studying the Bible.

Evelyn liked to work on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She loved to quilt, and made thousands of quilts for world relief. She also liked to plant ferns around the house and in the garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Sr. and Martha; and brothers Hillard Wenholz and Aurthur Wenholz Jr.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Gilbert Rolf of Lester Prairie; sons: Jon Rolf (wife, Arlene Lovsted) and Timothy Rolf (wife, Mary), all of Minneapolis, and Daniel Rolf of Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren Jason Rolf (wife, Ilse), Ava Rolf and Caitlin Rolf; great-grandchildren Ian and Nissa Rolf; sister, Marlene Schink of Crystal; sisters-in-law Donna Buhrow of Golden Valley, and Pat Wenholz of Lakeside, Mont.; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Rev. Eric Nelson officiated at the 11 a.m. funeral service. The organist was Jane Holasek and the congregational hymns were “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Amazing Grace,” “Nearer My God To Thee,” and “I’m But A Stranger Here.”

Visitation took place Sunday evening, Dec. 12, at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.

Serving as casket bearers were David Schink, Dale Wenholz, Jason Rolf, Louis Rolf, Michael Schmalz and Loren Schmalz. Interment was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

The Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie handled the arrangments.
