Belle G. Scanlon, 101 obituary 8/6/04


Belle Geneva Scanlon, age 101 of Pine Island, and formerly of Howard Lake and Maple Lake, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at the Pine Haven Care Center, Pine Island.
Belle was born May 25, 1903 in Maple Lake to Richard H. and Ann (Welton) Jude.
She married Dr. Maurice Scanlon in the summer of 1933. He preceded her in death Nov. 26, 1954.
Belle was a homemaker and member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake.
She lived in the Maple Lake and Howard Lake area most of her life, and has been a resident of the Pine Haven Care Center, Pine Island, for the past three years.
Belle enjoyed sewing, playing cards, traveling, and visiting with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Belle was preceded in death by brothers Richard, William, Bernard, Paul, Cyrus, and Ralph; and sisters, Margie Smith, Esther Quinn, Harriet May, and Beatrice Jude.
Many nieces and nephews survive her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with Fr. Mark Huberty officiating. Music was provided by Krista Elsenpeter and Kevin Smith.Burial followed in St. Timothy’s Cemetery.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There was a prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers were Brian Jude, Peter Elam, Charles Jude, Mike Jude, Mark Loch, and Peter Jude.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.
