Omer H. Schuettpelz obituary, 7/17/04


Omer H. Schuettpelz, age 85 of Mayer, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia.
He was born Dec. 23, 1918, at Camden Township, New Germany, the son of William and Emma (Dummer) Schuettpelz. He was baptized Feb. 2, 1919, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, by the Rev. F. W. Erthal, and confirmed March 20, 1932, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, by the Rev. Theodore Rolf.
Omer married Myrtle A. Prehn June 4, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, by the Rev. Elmer Schwandt.
He farmed on his parents’ farm, and had various jobs including plowing snow for Camden Township, working at Brelje Excavating, and driving and delivering oil for Mayer Oil Co.
Omer is survived by his loving wife, Myrtle; daughters and sons-in-law: Carol and Don Luedke of Mayer, and Sharon and Scott Berry of Lester Prairie; grandchildren: Brett Luedke, Tara and Andy Korsmo, David and Robin Berry, Annette and Wade Stock, Aimee and Casey Wilder, and Justin Berry and friend Natalie Stuewe; and great-grandchildren: Emilie, Garrett and Wyatt Berry, Craig Becker, Cody and Chase Stock, and James and Tony Wilder.
He is further survived by sisters-in-law Bernice Quaas of Watertown and Gladys Pedersen of Norwood; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Omer was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Schuettpelz, brothers Walter and Harold Schuettpelz, and sisters Ella Mielke and Lorena Schuettpelz.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, with the Rev. Jeff Harter officiating. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Mayer.
Serving as casketbearers were Omer’s grandchildren and great-grandson, David Berry, Annette Stock, Aimee Wilder, Justin Berry, Brett Luedke, Tara Korsmo, and Craig Becker.
Honorary casketbearers were his great-grandchildren: Emilie, Garrett, Wyatt, Cody, Chase, James, and Tony.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
