Alphonse D. Vanderlinde
Alphonse D. Vanderlinde, 86, of St. Bonifacius, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004 at his home.
Alphonse was born July 6, 1917 the son of Anton and Frances (Ehalt) Vanderlinde. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius.
He married Harriet Hauwiller June 25, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waconia by the Father Albert Heer.
Alphonse served in the Army in World War II, serving in the South Pacific, Bougainville, and Guadalcanal. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Aid Society and the St. Bonifacius Senior Citizens. He enjoyed playing cards and going fishing. Alphonse was a member of the American legion in St. Bonifacius, and the VFW in Waconia; they both stood guard at the wake and conducted military gravesides for him.
He was preceded in death by son Steven Vanderlinde, father and mother Anton and Frances Vanderlinde, father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Emily Hauwiller, brothers Edmund Vanderlinde, Norbert (Margaret) Vanderlinde, and infant sister Mary Vanderlinde.
Alphonse is survived by his loving wife Harriet, children and spouses Donald Vanderlinde of Cologne, Ruth and Tom Zanoth of Silver Lake, Roger and Jacque Vanderlinde of Waverly, Eileen Vanderlinde of St. Bonifacius, Bonita and Randy Rehmann of Lester Prairie, Sharon and Larry Ketcher of Cologne, Tony and Sharon Vanderlinde of Maple Plain, Norman and Martha Vanderlinde of Watertown, and Loren and Jennifer Vanderlinde of Maple Plain.
He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Andrew and Dorothy Vanderlinde of St. Bonifacius, Jerome and Rosemary Vanderlinde of Watertown, Marcella Vanderlinde of Watertown, 19 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mass of Christian burial was Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius, with the Father Joseph Gallatin officiating.
Casketbearers were sons and daughters Donald Vanderlinde, Ruth Zanoth, Roger Vanderlinde, Eileen Vanderlinde, Bonita Rehmann, Sharon Ketcher, Tony Vanderlinde, Norman Vanderlinde, and Loren Vanderlinde.
Interment was at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in St. Bonifacius.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
