Kenneth Zimmermann Sr.
Kenneth J. Zimmermann, age 69 of Winsted, died early Wednesday morning, April 28, 2004, at his residence.
He was born June 17, 1934, in Winsted, the son of Joseph and Corrine Marks Zimmermann.
Kenneth honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a devoted member of American Legion Post #407 in Winsted.
Kenneth and Marlene T. Ogitziak were joined in holy marriage June 18, 1960 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with a son.
Kenneth was formerly employed at Advance Machine for more than 30 years.
He was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. A member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8253, Kenneth was a past Grand Knight and also was a 4th Degree Knight.
Kenneth formerly served on the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted School Board for 16 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; a loving son, Kenneth C. (Jackie) Zimmerman; loving grandchildren, Brooke Zimmerman and special friend, Chris, and Anthony Zimmerman, all of Winsted; sisters and brothers: Rachel (John) Custer and Marjorie (Clayton) Helinske, all of Howard Lake; Yvonne (Ted) Urban of Silver Lake, Loren (Charlotte) Zimmerman of Howard Lake, Gordon (Gloria) Zimmermann of Owatonna, and Cliff (Linda) Zimmermann of Howard Lake.
He is further survived by nephews: Mark Custer; Bryan and Todd Urban; and Bradley and Nathan Zimmermann; aunts: Helma Auger, Della Fuerstenberg, Harriet Marks, and Olive Marks; aunts through marriage: Adeline Lindstrom, Ann Brunberg, Dorothy (Gatz) Baird, Ethel Ogitziak, Alma Ogitziak, and Marcella Mickesh; other relatives and friends.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Corrine; an infant sister, Laura Mae; and father- and mother-in-law, Clarence and Gertrude Ogitziak.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, May 1, 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Revs. Paul L. Wolf and Robert J. Mraz were concelebrants, and interment with military rites followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends call Friday, April 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
Honorary casket bearers were George “Butch” Lachermeier, Dean Schermann, Bob Storms, John Lueck, Duane Kopesky, Ron Karels and Gary Norman.
Casket bearers were Robert Kutz, Roger Guennigsman, Wayne Quast, Roman Widmer, Walter Kerber, and Dr. William Fynboh.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
