Martha A. Bayerl

Martha A. Bayerl, age 99 of Winsted, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with the Rev. Paul L. Wolf officiating. Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 26 from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.

Honorary pallbearers were Theresa Janke, Beth Corr, Kathryn Mathews, and Amy Quast. Casket bearers were Jill Bettermann, Lynn Jaworski, Sheila Guggenberger, Paula Kutzler, Susan Ratai, and Julie Bayerl.

Martha Augusta Kollath was born Jan. 13, 1906 in Winsted Township, McLeod County, the only child of Robert and Clara (Zanoth) Kollath. She grew up on a farm in Winsted Township, where she attended country school and later, attended school in Winsted.

Following her schooling, Martha worked as a nanny in Minneapolis for a number of years.

She was united in marriage to Andrew J. “Andy” Bayerl Sept. 17, 1934 in Winsted. The couple made their home in Winsted, where Martha lived the rest of her life.

Martha was primarily a homemaker. She also managed to find time to assist the Winsted Ladies Group with catering various events in the community.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and St. Anne’s Society.

Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, canning, being a hostess, fishing, and making jams. Spending time at her cabin was her joy.

Survivors include her children, Joyce (Joe) Quast of Burnsville, Marlys (Gary) Corr of Bloomington, and Ronald (Judy) Bayerl of Winsted; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, lndy (May 29, 1996); and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Corr (1991).

The Chilson Funeral Home of Winsted served the family.
