Nedley R. Birkholz

Nedley R. Birkholz, age 66 of Boy River, and formerly of Howard Lake, died Friday, May 20, 2005 in Boy River.

He was born March 7, 1939 in Howard Lake, where he grew up and attended school.

Ned joined the U.S. Armed Services in 1957, and was honorably discharged.

He married Roxanne in 1969, and they were married for 35 years.

Ned worked for Northdale Construction for 30 years.

After living in Big Lake for 25 years, Ned and Roxanne moved to Boy River in 1998, retiring in 1999.

Ned enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, helping others in need, and doing his lawn care and snowplowing services.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Birkholz; children Ned W. Birkholz, Melinda Warner, Rachel Johnson, and Wendy, Sandra, and Bob Birkholz; eight grandchildren; a brother, Richard; and two sisters, Gayle and Mary.

Ned was preceded in death by a daughter, Delana Ruth; and his parents.

Funeral services were Monday, May 23 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Boy River. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery, Boy River.

Visitation took place Sunday, May 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements were by the Carroll Funeral Home, Deer River.
