Elzina E. Borchardt
Elzina E. Borchardt, age 80 of New Germany, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born April 23, 1924 at Plato, the daughter of Fredrich and Eugenia (Studemann) Schuette. Elzina was baptized May 11, 1924 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Plato, by the Rev. R. Zwintscher, and confirmed at the same church April 10, 1938 by the Rev. R. C. Ehlen.
She attended St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School in Plato.
Elzina and Arthur C. Borchardt were married July 22, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Plato.
Elzina enjoyed babysitting in her home, and making quilts and tying quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
She was employed at a day care center in Waconia for several years.
Elzina was a faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; and her parents, Fredrich and Eugenia Schuette.
Elzina is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Elda and Glover Dohman of Roseville, Clara and Andy Manz of Williston, N.D.; and Margaret and Robert Heinz of Bagley; brother and sister-in-law Elvin and LaVonne Schuette of Madelia; caregivers Karen and Gerald Roepke of New Germany; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Plato with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating. Interment followed at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.
Casket bearers were Gerald Roepke, Eric Roepke, Paul Roepke, Richard Roepke, Weldon Baumann, and Bob Roepke.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
