Irene Catherine Brabec
Irene Catherine Brabec, age 91 of Waverly, died Friday, July 1, 2005 surrounded by her loving family at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born Nov. 25, 1913 in Woodland Township, Wright County, the daughter of John and Frances Beuhl BroIl Jr.
Irene C. BroIl and Raymond W. Brabec were joined in holy marriage Nov. 5, 1941, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with two children.
Raymond and Irene engaged in farming for many years on the Brabec homestead in Woodland Township.
Irene enjoyed playing cards, long walks, and visiting with people.
She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
Irene is survived by a son, Ed Brabec of Howard Lake; seven grandchildren: Karen (Bernie) Lueck, Dan Brabec, Scott (Angie) Brabec, Jason (Barb) Eckelberry, Karri (Chris) Baumann, Dawn (Bill) Hurley, and Cindy Eckelberry; six great-grandchildren: Anthony and Amelia; Zach, Lauren, and Erin, and Hunter Fobbe; sisters-in-law Clara BroIl and Doreen Brabec; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances BroIl Jr.; husband Raymond W. Brabec in 1964; a daughter, Darlene A. Eckelberry in 1996; daughter-in-law Dorothy R. Brabec in 2004; great- granddaughter Emily E. Brabec; a brother, Edward Broll; and by a sister, Rosann Loebertmann.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6 at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly. Father Timothy Cloutier was the celebrant, and interment followed at the Woodland Cemetery in Woodland Township, Wright County.
Friends called Tuesday, July 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A prayer service took place at 7 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were Gary Norman, Mike Specken, Guy Hedtke, Ron Broll, and Kevin Cochran.
Casket bearers were Bernie Lueck, Dan Brabec, Scott Brabec, Jason Eckelberry, Chris Baumann, and Bill Hurley.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
