David Otto Briesemeister

David Otto Briesemeister, age 62 of Lester Prairie, died recently in Arizona.

He was born April 14, 1943 in Lester Prairie, the son of Herbert and Lydia Mielke Briesemeister.

David was baptized May 9, 1943 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. Stahlke. He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at the same church April 14, 1957 by the Rev. Vomhof.

David was joined in holy marriage to Marlys M. Gueningsmann July 25, 1964 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with six children.

David owned and operated Dave’s Carpentry for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Marlys M. Briesemeister of Lester Prairie; children: Sharon (Mike) Fogarty of Auburn, Wash.; Sheryl (John) Schultz of Silver Lake, Brenda (Tim) Johns of Crowley, Texas; Bonnie (Brad) Gebhardt of Winsted, and Gail (Ben) Harris of Minneapolis; and grandchildren: Joe and Erin Fogarty; Kyle Schultz; Kirstie, Mackenzie and Nicholas Johns; and Shawn and Andrew Gebhardt.

David is further survived by sisters and a brother: Lorraine Kohler of Winsted, Vernon (Elaine) Briesemeister, Lavonne (John) Gueningsmann, and Leana (Clifford) Gueningsmann, all of Lester Prairie; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, John David Briesemeister, in 1988; his parents, Herbert and Lydia; and a twin sister, Donna Herrmann.

A memorial service will take place today, June 6, at 6 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating.

A time of gathering for family and friends will precede the memorial service, from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
