Gladys N. Bruhn
Gladys N. Bruhn, age 76 of Hollywood Twp., Mayer, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at her home.
She was born Dec. 7, 1928 in Delano, the daughter of Charles J. and Esther S. (Oestreich) Johnson. She was baptized March 3, 1929 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano by the Rev. E. H. Bruns, and confirmed June 11, 1944 at the Evangelical Free Church in Watertown by the Rev. Edmond C. Schumacher.
Gladys attended Yany Grade School District 33, and graduated from Delano High School.
She was united in marriage to Lyle A. Bruhn June 15, 1949 at the Evangelical Free Church in Watertown, by the Rev. Arthur Anderson.
Gladys was employed for 17 years at Green Giant in Watertown, Winsted, and Glencoe.
Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, and coin collecting.
She served as Sunday school treasurer and secretary at her church for a number of years.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; and parents Charles and Esther Johnson.
She is survived by children and spouses: David Bruhn of Mayer, Beverly and Donnie Cooper of Exeter, Mo.; Edward Bruhn of Mayer, and Bonnie and John Krueger of New Germany; grandchildren Conway and Stephanie Bruhn, Ryan and Melisa Porter, Jason Porter, Andrew Krueger, and Cody, Cory, Coby, Christopher, and Colton Bruhn; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Gladys is further survived by sisters Arles Johnson of Watertown, and Shirley Roach of Marysville, Wash.; brother and sister-in-law Marlin and Sharon Johnson of New Ulm; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Vernon Johnson of East Grand Forks, LeRoy and Phyllis Bruhn of St. Bonifacius, Wesley and DeDe Bruhn of Plymouth, Evelyn Gregg of Excelsior, and Arlene and Jack Dahl of Mound; aunt Myrtle Splettstoesser of Waconia; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Funeral services were Friday, April 29 at 2:30 p.m. at Evangelical Free Church in Watertown with the Rev. Paul E. Kling officiating. Interment was in Watertown Public Cemetery.
Chapel service took place Thursday evening, April 28, with the Rev. Greg Loomis officiating.
Casket bearers were Ryan Porter, Andrew Krueger, Steve Johnson, Donald Johnson, Donnie Cooper, and Daniel Formato.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
