Arthur W. Bussmann

Arthur W. Bussmann, age 87 of Cologne, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005 at Elim Home in Watertown.

He was born Jan. 21, 1918 in Benton Twp., Cologne, the son of William and Emilie (Klein) Bussmann. Arthur was baptized Jan. 27, 1918 at his parents’ home by the Rev. August Rehwaldt, and confirmed March 20, 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Twp., Cologne, by the Rev. Herman AmEnd.

He was united in marriage to Verona M. Dammann Sept. 4, 1941 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg by the Rev. H. J. Bouman.

Arthur served as a trustee at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Twp., Cologne from 1960 to 1962. He also belonged to the men’s club.

He was a member of the Carver County Fair Board, served as Benton Twp. treasurer, and was a member of the Republican party.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Verona; son and daughter-in-law Allen and Juanita Bussmann of Austin, Texas; daughter Joanne Grove of Willcox, Ariz.; grandchildren Michele and Rolando Luis, Heather Schneider, Chris and Caroline Bussmann, Phil Bussmann, Ross Schneider, and Andrea Bussmann; and great-granddaughter Claire Bussmann.

He is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Ruth and Ruben Kruschke of Glencoe, Betty and Harold Oelfke of Arlington, Muriel and Loren Zieroth, of Waconia, Virginia and Ruben Ernst of Glencoe, and Agnes Dammann of Winsted; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Twp., Cologne with the Rev. Eric Zacharias officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Casket bearers were Chris Bussmann, Phil Bussmann, Ross Schneider, and Rolando Luis.

Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
