Amos Joseph Chalupsky
Amos Joseph Chalupsky, age 90 of Winsted, returned home for Christmas and entered into eternal glory with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Monday, Dec. 19, 2005.
He was born Nov. 29, 1915, to Frank and Mary (nee Podrasky) in Silver Lake.
A prolific entrepreneur and loving family man, Amos owned several businesses including a newspaper distributorship, oil distributorship, movie theater, on & off sale liquor stores in Nicollet, Montrose, Osseo, and St. Cloud; nursing homes in St. Cloud and Lake City, Fisherman’s Point Resort, and Chalupsky’s Lodge in Crosslake.
He also owned several farms and investment properties around the state, and managed a private investment firm.
Amos was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Winsted, the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles Club, and a charter member of the Wapicada Golf Club in St. Cloud.
He was an avid outdoorsman and accomplished athlete, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating, and golf with his family and friends.
His most cherished accomplishment was his family.
Amos is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lola; and 14 children, Lorelie (Donald), Gary (Lynn), Carl (Dianna), Stephen, Douglas (Carolyn), Theodore (Diane), Jeanne (Kent), Brian, Judith, Matthew (Cindy), Glenn (Grace), Kenneth, Lawrence (Donna), and Bruce (Tricia).
He is further survived by 28 grandchildren, and eight great-grand children. He also leaves many beloved relatives and loyal friends.
Amos was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Raymond, Frank, Clayton, and Harry. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Delores.
The family expresses their appreciation to all relatives and friends who touched and enriched his life, who he loved and who loved him in return.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Concelebrants were Monsignor Eugene L. Lozinski, Monsignor Robert J. Wyffels, and the Rev. Paul L. Wolf. Interment followed at the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe.
Friends called Wednesday, Dec. 21 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A Knights of Columbus rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m., and a parish prayer service took place at 8 p.m. Further visitation took place Thursday morning, Dec. 22 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
