Gordon J. Cochran, 75
Gordon Junior Cochran, age 75 of Howard Lake, died Thursday, June 16, 2005 at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Home.
He was born April 14, 1930 in Howard Lake, the son of Roy and Amelia (Drawert) Cochran. A life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, Gordon was baptized May 11, 1930 by the Rev. C. G. Seltz, and confirmed in his faith March 25, 1945 by the Rev. Theo. Melinat.
Gordon joined the US Army and served his country in the Korean War.
He was united in marriage to Madonna Hertzog June 2, 1956. Their marriage was blessed with five children.
Gordon and Madonna made their home and living on a farm southwest of Howard Lake.
Over the years, Gordon also drove milk truck and worked as a mechanic at Moorhead Implement, Howard Lake.
His favorite pastime was fishing.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Amelia Cochran; wife, Madonna; three sisters, Gloria Asplin, Delores Sexton, and Gladys Stolka; two brothers, Gaylen and Gibson Cochran; and a son, Marcel Cochran.
He is survived by his children, Richard Cochran, David (Kristi) Cochran, Timothy (Darla) Cochran, Mike Cochran, and Sue Cochran; two sisters, Karen (Robert) Duraine, and Lois Berg; and one brother, Ronald (Arlene) Cochran.
Gordon is further survived by four grandchildren: Jeremy Cochran, Aaron Cochran, Nicholas Cochran, and Justin Cochran; three great-grandchildren: Cole Cochran, Kalli Jo Johnson, and Travis Kostuck; nieces; nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Rev. Michael Nirva officiating. Organist was Nancy Butterfass. Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Winsted.
Visitation took place from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church Monday.
Pallbearers were Mark Cochran, Jeff Mapes, Jason Mapes, Dennis Glessing, Jeremy Cochran, Aaron Cochran, Nicholas Cochran, and Justin Cochran.
The Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake handled the arrangements.
