James Arthur Claessen
James Arthur “Jim” Claessen, age 68 of Howard Lake, and formerly of Waverly, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005 at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center.
He was born Aug. 18, 1936 in Middleville Township, Wright County, the son of Paul and Laura Janson Claessen.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his stay at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center. He especially enjoyed the special care the Good Sam staff gave him.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
Jim is survived by a brother, Ed (Sue) Claessen; and a sister, Margy (Melvin) Millerbernd, all of Waverly; an aunt, Clare McHale of St. Anthony; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, a great-great nephew, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Claessen, May 1, 1986; and by his mother, Laura Claessen, July 8, 2003.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Jan. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. Father Timothy Cloutier was the celebrant, and interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Therese Borrell was the organist for the Mass; Irene Woitalla was the reader. Special music was provided by St. Mary’s Choir, which sang “Blest Are They,” “On Eagles’ Wings,” “Song of Farewell,” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Friends called Friday morning, Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
Casket bearers were Mark Millerbernd, Mary BroIl, Teresa Parochka, Jon Millerbernd, Gary Millerbernd, Joan Gust, Scott Millerbernd, Ann Millerbernd, and Dan Claessen.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
