Alvin R. Domjahn

Alvin R. Domjahn, age 94 of Delano, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Elim Home in Watertown.

Alvin was born May 31, 1910 at Montrose, Woodland Twp., Wright County, the son of Herman E. and Amelia (Lemke) Domjahn. He was baptized July 3, 1910 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., by the Rev. Theodore Rolf, and confirmed April 13, 1924 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, also by Rev. Rolf.

Alvin was united in marriage to Evelyn L. Schmalz Sept. 22, 1956 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Winsted, by the Rev. Edgar Schroeder.

Alvin farmed his entire lifetime.

He enjoyed “old tyme music,” gardening, playing cards, and flowers.

Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; great-grandchildren Robert, Scott, and Michelle Pogue; parents Herman and Amelia Domjahn; brother Arthur Domjahn; brothers-in-law Harold Weege, Erbin Schmalz, and Alois Schmalz; and sisters-in-law Alice Ide and Hilda Schmalz.

He is survived by step daughters and sons-in-law Leona and Eugene Fiecke of Lester Prairie, and Audrey and Ronald Graunke of Delano; grandchildren Carol Pogue and special friend Terry Thomson, Joan and Alan Teubert, Janet and Kevin Grimm Sr., Marilyn and Doug Ranzau, Lois Fiecke and special friend Wally Tanke, Renee and Kent Glessing, Lori and Robert Green, Jeff and Lori Graunke, and Barry and Amy Graunke.

He is further survived by 25 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Alfred and Dolores Domjahn of Montrose; sister LaVerna Weege of Buffalo; brother-in-law Albin Ide of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating. Interment was at Winsted Public Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Jeff Graunke, Barry Graunke, Larry Pogue Jr., Greg Pogue, Rodney Domjahn, Harlan Weege, Art Libor, and Alfred Jantshik.

Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
