Douglas James Dukhorn

Douglas James Dukhorn, age 61, of Winsted, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

He was born Dec. 22, 1943 in Richardton, N.D., the son of John and Elizabeth “Betty” Riesinger Dukhorn.

Doug and Phyllis A. Kohler were joined in holy marriage Sept. 20, 1969 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with four daughters.

Doug was formerly employed, for 25 years, at Mid-America Dairymen in Winsted. Later, he was involved in his family’s business, “The Painting Place.” For the past year and one-half, Doug was employed at Wal-Mart in Hutchinson.

He loved his family, especially his granddaughter! Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and metal detecting.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Dukhorn; daughters Julie Dukhorn, Melissa Dukhorn and her fiancé Terry Goldschmitz Jr., and Susan Dukhorn, all of Winsted, and Shantel (Steve) Collins of Gaylord; a granddaughter, Paige Collins; his mother, Betty Dukhorn of Winsted; and brothers and sisters: Daniel Dukhorn of Winsted, William (Cindy) Dukhorn of Waconia, Alvina (Ron) Dandurand of Burnsville, John Dukhorn of Marcell, Dwight Dukhorn of Winsted, Marilyn (Maverick) Nickles of Tyler, Texas, and Andrew Dukhorn of Independence, Ky.

He is further survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken and Dolores Kohler of Winsted; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Renee (David) Neese of Monticello, Paulette Kohler of Glencoe, Kevin (Nina) Kohler of Silver Lake, Carolyn Kohler of Anaheim, Calif., and Brenda (Ken) Sterling of Winsted; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, John Dukhorn; and by a sister, Jeanette Bayerl.

A wake service took place Wednesday, April 13 at 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with the Rev. Paul L. Wolf officiating.

A gathering of family and friends preceded the service, taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted handled the arrangements.
