Fred M. “Fritz” Entinger
Fred M. “Fritz” Entinger, age 88 of Winsted, died Friday, July 1, 2005 at his residence on the family farm.
He was born April 18, 1917 in Earl, Wis., the son of Peter and Frances Quast Entinger.
Fritz honorably served his country in the US Army during WW II, serving in New Guinea and in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was awarded a Bronze Star.
Fred was joined in holy marriage to Dorothy C. Kieser Sept. 27, 1952 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with six sons.
Fritz was formerly employed at Millerbernd Manufacturing for 34 years, and retired as shop foreman in metal manufacturing. He was with the company since its very early days, and developed machinery and processes used to produce electrical generator components and other products.
Fritz had a real gift for working with machinery. After work, he could often be found welding and repairing machinery on his relatives’ farms.
His hobbies included camping, fishing, and traveling. He especially enjoyed playing with and passing on his skills to his sons and 15 grandchildren.
Fritz was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 8253, Winsted American Legion Post 407 for the past 55 years, and to the Winsted Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy C. Entinger; five sons: Calvin M. (Elizabeth Miller) Entinger of Maple Grove, Ronald W. (Carol) Entinger of Chanhassen, Michael R. (Cynthia A.) Entinger of Mound, Daniel E. (Cynthia A.) Entinger of Silver Lake, and John J. (Colleen) Entinger of Waverly; 15 grandchildren; three sisters: Marcella Quast, Delores Hoese, and Jeanette Hoese; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many other relatives and friends.
Fritz was preceded in death by a son, Gary G. Entinger, Oct. 30, 2004; his parents, Peter and Frances Entinger; a sister, Katherine Millerbernd; brothers Andy, Louie, and Tony Entinger; brothers-in-law Joe Millerbernd and Ray Quast; and sisters-in-law Mary and Ida Entinger.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, July 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with the Rev. Paul L. Wolf as the celebrant. Interment with military rites followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called Monday, July 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A Knights of Columbus rosary was recited at 6 p.m., followed by an American Legion ritual at 7:15 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Steve Rohling, Steve Quast, Mel Millerbernd, Tom Entinger, Leroy Entinger, and Jim Entinger.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
