George R. Fake
George R. Fake, age 86 of Delano, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born April 6, 1919 to Joseph and Julia (Russek) Fake in Franklin Township.
George wore many hats over the years, and was constantly adding friends throughout this time. He loved to travel, and was proud of the fact that he had been to all the states of this great nation.
George loved his family. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and traveling with his family and friends. A gardener, George always got the families’ gardens up and going in the spring.
Farming was close to his heart; even after retirement, he stayed completely involved in the farm and how things were being done.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julia; brothers-in-law Anthony Schaust, Richard Gabrelcik, and John Florek; and sisters-in-law Betty Gabrelcik and Mathilda Florek.
George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Leona; children Carol and Calvin Butler of St. Petersburg, Fla.; George Fake, Ron and Mark Fake of Willmar; Mary and Ed Raser, Rose Fake, and Kevin and Jeri Fake; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Schaust; and special friends Roger Schadow and Chris Mattson.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano with the Rev. Michael Miller officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, with a 4:30 p.m. Catholic Order of Foresters rosary and a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continued from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, prior to the Mass.
Casket bearers were George’s grandsons: David Fake, Dan Fake, Joe Fake, Steve Raser, Jason Raser, Jeff Breuer, and Alan Butler. Honorary bearers were George’s great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
