Ida Isabel Farchmin
Ida Isabel Farchmin, age 95 of Glencoe, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005 at the Walker Methodist Health Center in Minneapolis.
She was born March 29, 1909 in Howard Lake, the daughter of William and Ida (Rice) Jones. She was one of 10 children.
After graduation from Howard Lake High School in 1927, she received teacher’s training in Alexandria and St. Cloud.
She taught school in rural Douglas, Wright, and Meeker counties.
Ida was united in marriage to John C. Vealitzek June 18, 1937 in Alexandria. They were blessed with three children: Sandra, David, and Dennis.
The family lived in Watertown and Winsted, before moving to Glencoe in 1956.
John died in March of 1966.
Ida later worked for Telex Incorporated for 13 years before her retirement in 1974.
She married Roy Farchmin Jan. 6, 1979. Roy died in May of 1987.
A member of the First Congregational Church in Glencoe, Ida was active in Fellowship and Faith Circle. She also served one three-year term as deaconess.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, John and Roy; daughter Sandra Hilgers; and siblings Jennie Jones, Della Meehan, Anna McClay, Mary Jones, William Jones, and Albert Jones.
Ida is survived by her children: David (Susan Kinder) Vealitzek of Minneapolis, and Dennis (Marie Stordahl) Vealitzek of Cumberland, Maine; and grandchildren: Jon Hilgers of Minneapolis, Julie (Kevin) Jiracek of Coon Rapids, Alex (Jessica Null) Vealitzek, and Nick Vealitzek, all of Minneapolis; and Jordan Stordahl of Cumberland, Maine.
She is further survived by son-in-law Roger (Gloria) Hilgers of Glencoe; sisters, Alice Prickett of Montrose, and Irene Shanks of Minneapolis; brother George Jones of Howard Lake; stepchildren Carol Carver, Roy Farchmin Jr., and Jon Farchmin; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 5 at First Congregational Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Penny Entringer officiating. Organist was Lon Roach, and the congregational hymns were “Beautiful Savior” and “What A Friend We Have in Jesus.” Interment was in the Glencoe City Cemetery.

Arrangements were with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
