Margaret T. “Margie” Fasching
Margaret T. “Margie” Fasching, age 83 of Winsted, died Tuesday evening, August 16, 2005 at the Cokato Manor.
She was born Oct. 11, 1922 in Winsted, the daughter of Anton “Tony” and Teresa Nothnagel Scheiber.
Margaret T. Scheiber and Adolph “Ted” Fasching were joined in holy marriage Feb. 5, 1941 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Wey officiated at the wedding ceremony. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Margie formerly worked part-time at the Green Giant Canning Factory, Brownie’s Restaurant, the Blue Note Ballroom, and Duebers in Winsted.
She was an excellent cook, enjoyed polka music, and was an avid bowler. Margie was also fond of crafts, crocheting, quilt making, and gardening.
Margie was a lifelong, faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
She is survived by her children: Yvonne (Dale) Barsness of Danube, Barbara (Harlan) Stender of New Germany, and Gene (JoAnn) Fasching of Winsted; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Margie is further survived by half sisters Diana (Roger) Thompson of Winsted, and Rosalie (Dick) Hesse of Lake Elmo; step brothers and a step sister, Leonard Laxen of Chaska, Clarence Laxen, Robert Laxen, both of Winsted; and Mina Zuk of Sturgeon Lake; a brother-in-law, Ken Conrad of Biscay; sisters-in-law Ann Fasching and Marcella Fasching, both of Winsted; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph “Ted” Fasching, on May 5, 2001; a great-granddaughter, Geneva Fasching, on Aug. 25, 2000; her parents, Tony and Teresa Fasching; and by her step mother, Lena.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Sunday, Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant, and Lavon Kielkucki was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Here I Am Lord,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “On Eagles’ Wings,” and “Ave Maria.” Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called Saturday, Aug. 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.
Honorary casket bearer was Troy Fasching.
Casket bearers were Allen Stender, Michael Stender, Paul Barsness, Ted Fasching, Terry Fasching, John Dockendorf, and Spenser Stender.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
