Katherine G. Franske
Katherine G. Franske, age 93, of Waverly, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Katherine was born July 17, 1911 in Watertown, the daughter of Fred and Margaret Padden Moebius.
She graduated from Watertown High School.
Katherine and Henry E. Franske were joined in holy marriage Aug. 18, 1936 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. God blessed their marriage with three sons.
Katherine and “Heine” owned and operated the Franske Fairway Store in Waverly from the day after their wedding in 1936, until 1972. They made many friends there.
Katherine loved Waverly, picnics at the lake, cooking and baking for her family, rocking babies, and playing “31.”
She approached life with grace and gusto, setting a wonderful example for others.
Katherine was a longtime, faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
She is survived by three sons: Bob (Nancy) Franske of Eden Prairie, Jim Franske of Waverly, and David (Mary Jo) Franske of Edina; six grandchildren: Holly, Kevin, Ben, Anna, Noah and Josie; a brother, John Moebius; and a sister, Lucretia Doerfler; and many other relatives and friends.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Franske, in 1974; and by her mother and father, Margaret and Fred Moebius; a brother, Henry; and a sister, Mary.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Jan. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. The Revs. Timothy Cloutier and Stan Mader were the concelebrants, and Therese Borrell was the organist for the Mass. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Katherine’s grandchildren: Holly Franske, Kevin Franske, Ben Franske, Anna Franske, Noah Franske, and Josie Franske.
Friends called Friday, Jan. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
