June A. Gongoll
June A. Gongoll, age 60 of Waverly, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 21, 1944 at Watertown, the daughter of Woodrow H. and Ardis A. (Guetzkow) Hecksel. She was baptized July 10, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, by the Rev. W. L. Ernst; and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Winsted, by the Rev. E. F. Schroeder.
June married Gerald G. Gongoll June 8, 1963 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Winsted, by the Rev. E. P. Schroeder.
She lived her entire life showering her family and friends with her endless love. June had an inner beauty that glowed, and all who knew her were truly blessed.
June loved her family, and always enjoyed being with them, especially her little angel and grandson, Spencer Gongoll.
She was very involved with her church, St. Paul’s Lutheran in Watertown, as a member of Lutheran Women Missionary’s League, and serving on the committee for decorating the new St. Paul’s Lutheran Church addition.
June was employed at New England Financial in Wayzata.
She enjoyed cross stitching, crafting, gardening, and working with her flowers. She also enjoyed her Thursday night bowling league, and her football pool.
June collected angels, and she is now an angel, herself.
She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow (Woody) Hecksel; sister Janice Barfnecht, brother Lennis Hecksel, nephew Darwin Barfnecht, father-in-law and mother-in-law Gilbert and Frieda Gongoll, and grandparents Henry and Minnie Hecksel, and Gustav and Lena Guetzkow.
June is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jerry; children Gregory Gongoll and Sachiko of Seattle, Wash.; Kristi Gongoll of Waverly, and Dennis Gongoll of Delano; grandson Spencer Gongoll; mother Ardis Hecksel of Watertown; brothers and sisters-in-law Marlin and Marlene Hecksel of Watertown, and Eldron and Sharon Hecksel of Winsted; sisters and brothers-in-law Joyce and Ronald Schmidt of Maple Plain, and Jane and Ronald Dressel of Maple Plain; brother-in-law and wife Donald and Diane Barfnecht of Watertown; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Bob Brabec of Mayer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Interment followed at Watertown Public Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers were June’s nephews: Dean Hecksel, Jason Hecksel, Scott Schmidt, Doug Dressel, Brian Brabec, and Kevin Brabec.
Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and continuing one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
