Margaret Harju, 71, Howard Lake, formerly of Cokato, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Home.
Services were conducted on Nov. 30 at the Laestadian Congregation Church, rural Cokato. Interment was at Cokato Finnish Cemetery.
Margaret Mae Sharon Peterson was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Calumet, Mich., to Otto and Sigrid (Heideman) Peterson. She grew up in Calumet and graduated from Calumet High School in 1952.
She moved to Cokato in 1958. She married William Harju on March 3, 1962, in Cokato.
She was a member of the Laestadian Congregation Church.
She was employed for a time at the Cokato Bakery, but she was basically a homemaker. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and hand work and playing the piano.
Survivors include sons, Arthur (Valerie) of Colorado, Bryan (Michele) of South Haven and Carl of Cokato; 10 grandchildren, Bradley, Leanna, Christie, Ben, Laura, Alissa, Holly of Colorado and Anthony, Elizabeth and Bryanna of South Haven; a sister, Sylvia Eix, and a sister-in-law Eleanor Peterson, both of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson, Philip; one brother; and five sisters.
