Iona Rubie Jewett

Iona Rubie Jewett, age 79, formerly of Marysville Township, Wright County, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at the Anoka Care Center.

She was born June 15, 1925 in Marysville Township, the daughter of Henry A. & Rose Lambert Jewett.

As a young girl, Iona helped on the family farm. She also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.

When Iona was 16 years old, she was in an auto accident in Marysville Township, near her home, and as a result, has been confined to nursing homes for the past 60 years.

She is survived by brothers and sisters Vernon “Sonny” (Carol) Jewett of Waverly, Totten Jewett of Buffalo, Daisy Russ of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Dollrus “Dolly” Grangroth of Waverly; many nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

Iona was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Veretta Jewett; a brother, Wesley Jewett; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Milton Russ, Joyce Jewett, and Howard Grangroth; and by a niece, Rose Mosch.

Funeral services were Thursday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with the Rev. Myra Carroll-Pezzella officiating.Interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.

Marlene Mohwinkel was the organist for the funeral service, and Rolf Mohwinkel sang “The Old Rugged Cross.”

Casket bearers were Leonard Grangroth, Harlan Grangroth, Stanley Rannow, Alan Jewett, Paul Jewett, and Dick Mosch.

The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
