Vernon “Sonny” William Jewett

Vernon “Sonny” William Jewett, age 85, of Waverly, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the Buffalo Hospital.

He was born Dec. 31, 1919 in Marysville Township, Wright County, the son of Henry and Rose Lambert Jewett.

Sonny was joined in holy marriage to Carol A. Lindenberg Sept. 3, 1976.

Sonny farmed and lived his entire life on the family farm.

He loved to hunt, fish, play cards, garden, and tell old stories.

Sonny was a loving husband, brother, and uncle. He was blessed with many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Jewett; sisters Dolly Grangroth and Daisy Russ; a brother, Totten Jewett; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rose Jewett; sisters Veretta and Iona Jewett; a brother, Wesley Jewett; brothers-in-law Milton Russ and Howard Grangroth; sisters-in-law Clara Jewett and Joyce Jewett; and by a niece, Rosie Mosch.

Funeral services were Friday, July 1 at 11:30 a.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted with Deacon Michael Thoennes officiating. Marlene Mohwinkel was the organist, and Rolf Mohwinkel sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “On Eagles’ Wings.” Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.

Visitation took place Friday July 1 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Honorary casket bearers were Sonny’s nephews and nieces.

Casket bearers were Leonard Grangroth, Lyle Hirsch, Allen Jewett, Ricky Grangroth, Larry Russ, and Gerald Anderson.

Arrangements were by the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
