Alden D. Jopp
Alden D. Jopp, age 89 of Hollywood Twp., Mayer, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
Funeral services are today, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., with the Rev. Robert J. Rupprecht officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Alden was born March 3, 1916 in Hollywood Township, the son of Robert G. and Selma M. (Rohloff) Jopp. He was baptized March 26, 1916 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., by the Rev. W. L. Ernst, and confirmed by the same April 13, 1930.
Alden was united in marriage to Irene E. Schwalbe at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., by the Rev. Elmer Schwandt.
Alden farmed his entire lifetime. He also worked for Green Giant as a field man, a salesman for a seed company, a veterinary assistant, and Hollywood Twp.
A lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., Alden served as an elder, trustee, school board member, and a member and treasurer for Lutheran Laymen League for many years.
He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Alden is survived by his loving wife, Irene; sons and daughters-in-law Dale and Charlotte Jopp of Hutchinson, Dean and Paulette Jopp of Mayer, and Dennis and Nadine Jopp of Maple Lake; daughter and son-in-law Lynette and Jerry Pettit of Howard Lake; grandchildren Kimberly Kelley, Dawn and Tom Clemenson, Michelle Lyzhoft, David and Christa Jopp, Timothy and Jill Jopp, Ryan Pettit, and A’ndrea Pettit; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Loretta Jopp of Watertown, Bernett Jopp of Mayer, Wilbert Zastrow of Mayer, Verna Ketcher of Rockford, Ill.; Hilton and Lyla Schwalbe of Buffalo, and Harold Schwalbe of Waconia; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Serving as casketbearers for the funeral service are Alden’s grandchildren: Kimberly, Kelley, Todd Jopp; David Jopp, Timothy Jopp, Nathan Jopp, and Ryan Pettit.
Honorary casketbearers are granddaughters Dawn Clemensen, Michelle Lyzhoft, Tracy Bates, A’ndrea Pettit, and Nichole Jopp.
Arrangements are being handled by Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
