Merlin C. Kassulker obituary, 8/26/05


Merlin C. Kassulker, age 92 of Hollywood Township, New Germany, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at Elim Home in Watertown.
Merlin was born Jan. 28, 1913, the son of William and Alma (Hill) Kassulker. He was baptized March 9, 1913 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., by the Rev. Theodore Rolf, and confirmed at the same April 10, 1927, by the Rev. W. L. Ernst.
Merlin was united in marriage to Evelyn A. Dressler Sept. 10, 1933 at Frieden’s County Line Church in Plato, by the Rev. Nusman.
As a very active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., Merlin served as church treasurer for many years, school board member, and church elder.
He served as director for the New Germany Security Bank for many years, and was on the Hollywood Twp. Board.
Merlin also did custom farm work for other farmers, and loved going to baseball games and watching his grandchildren play.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; parents William and Alma Kassulker; sisters and brother-in-law Ada Kassulker, and Stella and Jerome Hecksel; brothers and sisters-in-law Howard and Malinda Kassulker, and Norman and Lorraine Kassulker; father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Elma Dressler, and brother-in-law Harold Dressler.
Merlin in survived by his children and spouses: Duane and JoAnn Kassulker of Mayer, Bonnie and John Boll of Watertown, and Brenda and Michael Donahue of New Germany; grandchildren: Steve and Tammy Kassulker, Marci and Lonnie Theisen, Dave Donahue and special friend Katie Henning, Jeff Boll and special friend Angie Neumann, Jamie and Luke Runka, Josh Boll and special friend Holly Schmidt, Becky Boll and special friend Mike Paschke, Joe Donahue, and Jesse Boll; and great-grandchildren Ryan and Hailey Kassulker, and Jake and Luke Theisen.
He is further survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Delbert and Geneva Dressler of Lester Prairie; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., New Germany, with the Rev. Robert J. Rupprecht officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were grandsons Steve Kassulker, Dave Donahue, Jeff Boll, Josh Boll, Joe Donahue, and Jesse Boll.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
