Eunice Korinta, 97
Eunice Korinta, age 97 of Montrose, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born July 18, 1908 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Ethan Judson and Esther Peart Ashmore.
Eunice was joined in holy marriage to August “Gust” Korinta Sept. 7, 1926 in Detroit Lakes. God blessed their marriage with three daughters.
Crocheting, reading, and playing cards with her family were some activities that Eunice enjoyed.
She was a faithful, longtime member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose.
Eunice also belonged to the Women’s Circle, Birthday, and Canasta Club.
Preceding her in death were her husband, August “Gust” Korinta in 1988; son-in-law Howard Thoreson; great-great-grandson Brandon Nieman; her parents, Ethan and Esther Ashmore; a brother; and six sisters.
Eunice is survived by loving daughters Una (Dale) Thoreson Stueven of Hutchinson, Marian (Milford “Bud”) Yager of St. Michael, and Dianne (David) Epple of Montrose; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 10 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose with the Rev. Robert J. Hellmann officiating. Special music was provided by Elliot Epple, Leonard, and Ethan Epple. Congregational hymns were “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” “Amazing Grace How Sweet The Sound,” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Interment followed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends called Sunday, Oct. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A prayer service took place at 7 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were Tony Nieman, Nick Nieman, Theron Thorson, Eric Yager, Nathan Spike, Elliot, Lewis, Ethan and Wyatt Epple; Axel Adamson, Mike Thiesfeld, Robb Mattila, and Chris Huss.
Casket bearers were Leslie Thoreson, Steven Yager, Leonard Epple, Roland Epple, Steven Hanson, Kirby Spike, and Phillip Adamson.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
