Lyle Edwin Latzke
Lyle Edwin Latzke, age 64 of Glencoe, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
Lyle was born Dec. 7, 1940 in LeSueur, to George and Doris (Boelke) Latzke. He was baptized Jan. 19, 1941, at Zion Lutheran Church in LeSueur by the Rev. Muecke, and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe Oct. 20, 1963 by the Rev. Meissner.
He attended school in LeSueur and then in Arlington, before joining the US Air Force, where he received his G.E.D. His active service dates were Feb. 12, 1959 through Sept. 27, 1962. He was stationed in Ramstein, Germany.
Lyle was united in marriage to Betty Ann Voigt Oct. 27, 1962, at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Rev. Fellwock. The couple lived in Glencoe since 1978.
Latzke was employed at Hutchinson Technology Inc. (HTI) for 18 years. He was an active member of the American Legion Post in Hutchinson and enjoyed spending time at his camper at Cozy Corners in Richmond.
Other hobbies included fishing, collecting model cars, listening to country western music, and entertaining family and friends with his numerous jokes.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sons and two daughters: Lori (Jeffrey) Ballard of Litchfield, Brenda Becker of Glencoe, Jeffrey (Tina) Latzke of Norwood Young America, and Paul (Jaime) Latzke of Winsted; and 10 grandchildren: Lindsey Ballard, Kyle Ballard, Kelsey Ballard, Amber Sturges, Zachary Becker, Trevor Becker, Brianna Latzke, Colten Latzke, Alec Latzke, and Austin Latzke.
Lyle is further survived by three brothers, Bob (Pat) Latzke of LeSueur, Darryl (Renee) Latzke of Columbia Heights, and Gene (Charlotte) Theis of Shakopee; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 28 from First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Terry Brandenburg officiating. The organist was Dawn Wolter, and the congregation sang “Amazing Grace,” “Rock Of Ages,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “The Strife Is O’er.”
Pallbearers were Hillard Gehlen, Donald Mehlop, Scott Becker, Jeff Ballard, Scott Grabow, and John Gilster. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
