Robert LeRoy Lindquist

Robert LeRoy Lindquist, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Wayzata.

Services were conducted Dec. 12 at Grace Lutheran Church, rural Cokato, with the Revs. Michael Nelson and John Peterson officiating. Music was by Lynda Peterson. Interment was at Grace Cemetery.

Casket bearers were sons, Chuck Lindquist, Bill Lindquist, Tom Lindquist and Peter Lindquist.

Robert LeRoy Lindquist was born April 29, 1924, to John Levi and Edith (Dahlman) Lindquist in French Lake Township, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church.

He attended grade school at Happy Corners and graduated from Cokato High School in 1942. He was a member of the football team.

As a young man he farmed and was employed at the canning factory in Cokato. He also helped at the Swanson Funeral Home.

He married Eva Damuth on May 13, 1950, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, with the Rev. Cornell officiating. The couple resided in Minneapolis.

He became a mail carrier first in Minneapolis and then in St. Louis Park. He also delivered Minneapolis Star newspapers and worked part time at Tri-Mac, a company that manufactured car top carriers.

In 1962, the family moved to Wayzata and in 1984 retired to Lake Ada near Pine River. They later resided in Cokato and most recently in Plymouth.

He was active in church as an usher, Sunday school teacher and deacon. He also participated in Bible study groups. He was also active in scouting and enjoyed taking the boys fishing, an activity he later enjoyed with grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of Plymouth; sons, Chuck (Cindy) of Minneapolis, Bill (Darla) of Northfield, Tom (Joyce) of Plymouth, and Peter (Maryellen) of Woodbury; grandchildren, Ruth Fenton, Nathan Lindquist, Joel Lindquist, Anna Grimm, Sarah, Levi, Rebecca, Hannah, Thea, Zane, Guthrie, and Abby Lindquist; a great-grandson; brothers, Elmer (Gloria) Lindquist, Paul (Karen) Lindquist; sister, Myrtle Breitholtz; and sister-in-law, Francis Lindquist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon and Lawrence; a sister-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
